About Relaximus Maximus

Relaximus Maximus is a massage therapy studio serving the LGBTQ community & Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) & everyone else under the sun in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Core Values

Our mission is to create a space where massage therapy is accessible and inclusive and where you feel empowered and grounded in your body.

  • Every body is different and every body is great. At Relaximus Maximus, we reject a universal standard for what a body “should” look like. Fatphobia, transphobia, colorism, and ableism have no place here.

  • We are committed to supporting communities, organizers, and activists fighting for social and economic justice for historically marginalized communities.

  • We are committed to being an anti-racist, queer-centered, intersectional feminist space, and doing the ongoing work to sustain it as such.

  • We believe self-care is community care. We care for ourselves in order to care for others in our communities.

  • We believe the world could use a little more healing touch.

Lauren is a longterm Albuquerque resident. She has been practicing massage therapy since 2009, beginning her career with study at the New Mexico School of Natural Therapeutics.

Shortly after she completed the program at NMSNT she began her own practice, integrating advanced training in Thai massage, sports massage, deep tissue, ashiatsu, shiatsu, pregnancy massage, neuromuscular massage, Windows of the Sky (specific acupressure with energy work incorporated), and massage for end-of-life and palliative care.

She has completed continuing education programs in New Mexico at Santa Fe school of Massage, Crystal Mountain Institute, in Tucson at Southwest Ashiatsu Massage & Bodywork Academy, and abroad including Thai massage training at Sunshine School of Massage in Chiang Mai, Thailand. She has supported the next generation of therapists as a teacher's assistant at New Mexico School of Natural Therapeutics (in both Swedish massage and anatomy).

Outside of work, you can find Lauren studying, and writing papers. When time permits she works on her house, and connects with nature. She enjoys hanging out with her dog, and cats. Lauren is currently enrolled in school, working towards a bachelors in social work at New Mexico Highlands University.
